During 8 to 11 May, the 6th edition of Asia Nuclear Business Platform (ANBP) which was organized by Industry Platform and hosted by SNERDI was taking place in Shanghai.

The Mission of ANBP

ANBP was developed by the industry for the industry. With the mission in mind, ANBP was developed as the top quality nuclear event in the region, attracted including the IAEA, the former chairman of American Nuclear Society, US NRC, US Department of Commerce, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories, Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation etc. to attend. The topics of ANBP covers the full nuclear value chain from the investment and technology development to waste management and international collaborations. It provides an excellent platform to the global nuclear industry.

The Pre-conference Workshop

On 8 May, the Senior Vice President of State Nuclear Power Technology Company represented SNPTC to give the welcome address at the Pre-conference Workshop about nuclear technology innovation. He said “To encourage the green energy by innovation is always the strategy of China’s power generation industry development. After 10 years that China opened her arms and embraced the global nuclear industry, China has made many achievements in the nuclear industry. SNPTC with its open-mind, will like to enhance its communication with the global nuclear industry and cooperate on the nuclear innovation to bring a brighter future to the world.”

During the workshop, the President and CEO of Excel Services Corporation, the General Counsel of NuScale Power, the Chief Operation Officer of Moltex Energy, the Chairman of Copenhagen Atomics, the Vice President of General Fusion, and representative from ITER China and SNERDI gave presentations respectively on the SMR technology and its potential market, fusion technology, and related R&D and experiments.

The Main Conference

During 9-10 May the main conference of ANBP, the Senior Vice President of SNPTC, President of SNERDI Dr. Zheng Mingguang, the President of State Nuclear Power Automation System Engineering Company (SNPAS) Cao Yongzhen, the General Manager of State Nuclear Power Engineering Company (SNPEC) Wang Mingdan were all invited to give speeches respectively on the national key project and its related technology development.

The panel Discussion

During the panel discussion moderated by the former presidential appointee of NRC, partner of Pillsbury Jeffrey Merrifield, Dr. Zheng Mingguang together with the experts from IAEA and Shearman & Sterling discussed the trends of the development of the energy. Dr. Zheng agreed that the nuclear safety is the common sense for everyone in the nuclear industry in the world, the global nuclear industry should work together basing on the safety requirement to improve the technology and economy, besides the nuclear industry needs to continue put efforts on the public communication and gain the support from the public.

The exhibition

During ANBP, SNERDI, SNPEC, and State Nuclear Power Plant Services Company co-hosted a booth to introduce the achievements, technology capabilities, international cooperation, CAP1400 reactor design, and the project of AP1000 of SNPTC, and it has attracted many attentions from the ANBP participants.

SNERDI will continue enhancing the international communication, deepening the cooperation in the global nuclear industry to achieve the nuclear energy “Going-out” strategy.
