On Feb 22-24, 2016, a delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) visited Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute (SNERDI) to conduct an active and effective technical meeting with SNERDI representatives to discuss the results from the CAP1400 IAEA Generic Reactor Safety Review (GRSR) draft report.

The GRSR, performed by the IAEA staff and international senior experts, is a technical safety review service provided by the IAEA to the Member States upon request. The IAEA conducted a review on the CAP1400 Preliminary Safety Analysis Report (PSAR) regarding the completeness and comprehensiveness of the safety documentation based on the latest IAEA Design Safety and Safety Assessment requirements, which incorporate the feedback from Fukushima Daiichi Accident.

Dr. Zheng Mingguang, Vice President of State Nuclear Power Technology Cooperation and President of SNERDI, and Mr. Yan Jinquan, Vice President of SNERDI, welcomed the IAEA delegation and expressed their highly appreciation for the rigorous, responsible and efficient evaluation organized by IAEA.

As a follow-up on the final technical meeting, the IAEA will finalize the review on the basis of the meeting conclusions. It is expected that the final report will be provided by the IAEA in April, 2016.
