At 21:38 of October 2, 2016, Unit 3 of Chashma Nuclear Power Plant in Pakistan completed the initial criticality. On October 1, all indicators of Unit 3 reached the requirements from Pakistan’s Nuclear Safety Association. After raising the control rod, the unit reached the criticality accordingly on October 2, which indicated the basic completion of system and components commissioning of Unit 3.
The success of the milestone confirms the safety and stability of the 300MWe nuclear power plant in Pakistan. Commissioning team from Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design cooperated with engineering, operation and installation companies to prepare the test, and provided reliable and strong technical support to utilities.
