From Feb. 18^th - 22 ^th, 2016, the delegation led by Dr. ZHENG Mingguang, Vice President of State Nuclear Power Technology Cooperation (SNPTC) and President of Shanghai Nuclear Engineering & Design Institute (SNERDI) visited Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) and its subordinate organizations to discuss and sign the technical services contract as well as the cooperation minutes.

During their visit, Dr.ZHENG presented the Chairman and all members of PAEC the research and design capabilities of CAP1400 nuclear power plant (NPP), along with the latest news on demonstration project that attracted high attention and strong interests from PAEC. SNERDI and PAEC will deepen and expand bilateral cooperation in Small Modular Reactor’ series (SMR’s), radwaste disposal, self-reliance 300MW NPP and full scope simulator.

On site, a two-day seminar was convened between SNERDI delegation and Chashma Nuclear Power Generating Station (CNPGS). They exchanged the opinions on technical support services and communication mechanism, and reached agreements on establishing and consolidating the comprehensive partnership.

Chashma NPP, the South-South Cooperation and Sino-Pakistani friendship monument, is self-designed by SNERDI and the first technical export project from China. SNERDI consistently keeps the operation safety of the plant as the priority and responsibility. This visit promotes the transformation and breakthrough from core technology to driving forces for economic development.

SNERDI-PAEC relations have now reached a new historical starting point. Given their shared development tasks, highly compatible strategic interests, and broad prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation, both sides will advance side by side with an ever-growing sense of purpose.
