The human resource development in the field of nuclear energy has noticeable features of extensive major and multi-level talent. The education and human resource development has always been an important issue in this field.

The 25th International Conference on Nuclear Engineering(ICONE 25)held an expert forum on the theme "Education and human resources development", which was co-chaired by Wang Kan from Tsinghua University, Yassin Hassan from Texas A & M University and Shuichiro Miwa from Hokkaido University.

The unniversity-industry cooperation promotes talent training

 Yassin Hassan introduced the status and trends of US nuclear graduates and relevant degree awards from 2003 to 2015. He outlined specific measures to attract and retain high quality nuclear students, such as carrying out light water reactor technology related projects, setting the decommissioning, security, accident analysis and other courses. He also emphasized the significance of the school-enterprise cooperation and diversified scholarships on student training.

The universities should be equipped with solid engineering background, industry sensitivity and global vision

Xiong Zhenqin introduced the reformatory projectized curriculum provision, the scientific research direction, the research funding status and the international education cooperation of the Institute of School of Nuclear Science and Engineering (SNSE) of Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU) . She also stressed that the nuclear education demands the school itself to be equipped with a solid foundation of Engineering knowledge, sensitivity to nuclear engineering issues and requirements, and a global vision.

Xia Hong from Institute of College of Nuclear Science and Technology (CNST) of Harbin Engineering University(HEU), introduced the history of the college, the research status, the college projects, the laboratory conditions, the international cooperation projects and other aspects of the institute. He further made the CNST construction goals clear, which is "high-level education, training and scientific research based ".

Innovation system construction attracts the talent

Leon Cizelj introduced the "ENEN+" project launched by the International Nonprofit Organization, the European Nuclear Engineering Network(ENEN). This organization aims atattract new talent to join the nuclear industry, develop talent beyond the academic program, and retain nuclear industry talent And to keep a strong interest in his career as a goal.

Hideharu Takahashi introduced the status of the nuclear human resources development of the Tokyo Institute of Technology.He mainly introduces the "Dojo" project for the international nuclear safety and security agencies and the Japanese university network system for the global nuclear human resources development.

Su Guanghui introduced the situation of scientific research, talent training and discipline construction in Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology ofXi'an Jiaotong University. He put forward the situation and innovation ideas of nuclear education, and also the idea of research and cooperation in the future. 

This summit is an important part of ICONE25. It provided useful construction ideas and methods to strengthen the construction of nuclear power echelon, to cultivate innovation and creative international talentfor our nation.
