On May 24, 2019, Dr. Jane Gerardo-Abaya, Asia and the Pacific Division Director of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Technical Cooperation Department, visited Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute (SNERDI). Mr. YAN Jinquan, vice president and chief engineer of SNERDI met the guests.

SNERDI presented historical footprints, technology capabilities and development blueprint of the institute, reviewed 30-year cooperation between SNERDI and IAEA in the areas of technical standards, personnel training, and international communication, and introduced the consistent support provided by SNERDI including high-end consultation, technical cooperation projects implementation, international events and exchanges organization, and personnel trainees.

Dr. Gerardo-Abaya congratulated the achievements SNERDI made on advanced nuclear technology development, appreciated the long-term support to IAEA issues and activities by the institute, and proposed bilateral cooperation with SNERDI aiming at front-tier technology research projects, advanced nuclear energy development experiences sharing, and peaceful use of nuclear energy.
