From July 8 to 14, 2019, delegation from Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute (SNERDI) is invited to visit EnerSys Delaware Inc. (EnerSys) in United States for Vented Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) Battery technology communication.

EnerSys is the global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications which contributes to the development and application of battery technology in nuclear power plant. During the meetings, the failure modes, qualification standards, of VRLA and capacity of monitoring parameter prediction of battery monitor system etc. are discussed.

Class 1E VRLA batteries have not been applied in mainland, China yet; neither have been the corresponding qualification standards. The investigation and communication with experienced entities on VRLA technology will assist the promotion and application of qualified Class 1E VRLA batteries in nuclear power plant.
