From October 7 to 9, 2019, delegation from Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research & Design Institute (SNERDI) attends the Fourth EAGE Workshop on High Performance Computing for Upstream, which is held by European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers (EAGE) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Comparing across multiple industries, the energy business undoubtedly exploits the largest High-Performance-Computing (HPC) capacity. HPC plays a central role in seeking higher productivity, lowering costs and making better use of our data through high-performance simulation and data analytics. This is especially true while the energy industry experiences change through this fourth industrial revolution (4IR): digitalization. Algorithms performing as fast as possible on the best available hardware either on premise or in the cloud have a direct role and impact on many of the decisions shaping the energy business. The overlap and cross pollination opportunities between data analytics, big data, AI, simulation and HPC is the underlying theme of this fourth instance of the HPC workshop: HPC through the 4IR. The workshop brings together regional and international practitioners & academia in the High Performance Computing for the energy industry.
SNERDI is invited to attend the workshop and shares experiences with experts from different areas to get into latest development and application of HPC in the energy industry across the world.
