From December 6th to 10th 2019, the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP25) China Pavilion Side Event on nuclear energy development and climate change was held in Madrid, Spain. Dispatched by SPIC, Liu Zhan, senior engineer of department of reactor core design, was invited to attend the event as the member of the National Energy Administration (NEA) delegation.
Liu Zhan was invited to share some insights on the development and future outlooks of advanced nuclear energy technology in the keynote speech. He said that advanced nuclear energy technology is an important development direction of nuclear energy in the future. It is necessary to actively promote comprehensive innovative applications and demostration projects of advanced nuclear energy, strengthen international nuclear energy cooperation, actively contribute to China's solutions, and jointly confront climate change.
The NEA delegation was also invited to go to TECNATOM for research, to learn about the situation of nuclear power in Spain, the history of TINATON Group and its cooperation with China, to visit the real-time monitoring and analysis system and the main control room for digital transformation.
This is the first time that the Climate Change Conference (COP25) China Pavilion Series side event set up the theme of nuclear energy, which has aroused great attention from all parties and played an active role in promoting nuclear energy to help China cope with climate change.
